"Hidden In Flesh" Devlog #8: Trying to Finish Up the Temple

Progress

Over the weekend, I've been mostly focusing on building the temple cuz it's the more important stuff I need to get done before Level Up.

Here is what I had done last week:

This is what I have done now:

Here's what I got done:

Finished the Floors and Added ceilings

You can't really see it well in the image above cuz the ceiling is mostly covered by the roof, but I finished the floors and ceilings (and the change is very noticeable on the inside of the building):

Added doors

I also added doors (or more like, door frames, as the actual doors will be a blueprint actor in Unreal Engine):

Like real life temples, it has entrances from multiple sides, which will have doors:

However, the door frames on the inside actually won't have any doors and will just be open space (really, the only reason the pillars exist is to support the weight of the building). Since it's a temple, not a residential building, there's no real need for privacy, so the "Moya" (main part of the building) does not have many separations from the "Hisashi" (outer corridor). This is what the temple inside should look like at the end (in terms of wall structure):

Finished the windows

I also added the wooden windows that were common in the era. They actually consist of a bunch of wooden slabs tilted at an angle so that if you stare at them face on, you can't see through, but they still have gaps amongst them for ventilation:

Added Roof tips

I also added roof tips (where as before they had been largely missing) and an under layer for the roof which wasn't there before:

In contrast, this here is what I had during my last devlog- even though there isn't much difference in the zoomed out images at the beginning of this devlog, the roof is actually much more finished now compared to a few days ago:

Going Forward

I hope to finish all of the temple by Thursday and UV it and put in into Unreal Engine during Thursday's class. There are still some gaps that need to be filled in the building but hopefully I can get it done in time.
